Death of the Stig
So I read the other day about the publishing company that evoked its right to free to speech in court to stop an injunction by the BBC, aimed at stopping the publishing company from selling a book that revealed the identity of the Stig. Now we know, as the media covered the story, that the Stig is Ben Collins. It's amazing how much there is to a name. Suddenly, the Stig has lost all of his power, his mystique. The book, ill probably buy. Im sure the story of Ben Collins is fascinating. For any car guy, this book should be a must have. However, I am still upset at this company. Why not wait 5 years for Ben to retire as the Stig? Why does this have to be published now? They killed Santa. Just because you have the right, doesn't mean you should exercise it. I wish I had never read about it, because now I can't unread it. The company obviously had ZERO respect for the character that made the book worth buying. I would never ask that someone not use their G-d given rights, but I would ask them to use good judgement as to when. It is a sad day for car people everywhere. Per the rules set by the BBC, the Stig will now be retired. Which is find, because let's face it, now that we know who the Stig is, he doesn't matter.
